Heavenly Capital and Mortal Realm.

To say that you and Xie Lian could be compared as siblings, is just how close you two are, not romantically, in a sense, more of the sense that you two are best friends. Right?

You and Xie Lian were always assigned as partners for many assignments by the Heavens, and Ling Wen always was the one to do it (wonder why), and based on the results you two would provide for her, it was why you two were such a good pair for such missions.

So it begs the question, how did you and His Highness become so close?

It all starts from Xianle.

You were a servant of the Royal Holy Temple like Mu Qing, and you both were then servants under Xie Lian. You were more quiet and reserved, and often thrown in the middle of Mu Qing and Feng Xin’s arguments, which is what made Xie Lian more protective of you and more determined to stop their fights. He kept you a bit closer to him, reassuring you always that there was nothing to worry about, he’d always have your back.

And that’d shine through, even after everything that transpired. Because unlike Feng Xin and Mu Qing, you stayed by Xie Lian’s side through it all (some might compare you to Hua Cheng, but no matter). You witnessed everything, from Xie Lian’s first banishment, to the 100 Sword Stabbing, all of it, you also rescued him from succumbing to White-No-Face’s tricks and manipulation for falling into a Calamity. And Xie Lian was forever grateful.

When he ascended for the 3rd time, you were his deputy official through it all. Mostly everyone was surprise to see you still by Xie Lian’s side, but, everyone thought it was merely loyalty that didn’t make you leave, but you knew your reasons for staying by Xie Lian’s side.

After the Banyu Incident, the Ghost City mission, and all that, Ling Wen gave you and Xie Lian a break for once, letting you both rest without having to worry about anything. You both were in Puqi Shrine, and you were attending to the outside duties of sweeping, cleaning, and overall trying to make it look nice, which helped out a lot. As you were attending to this, and even going so far as to start a little garden nearby, you were suddenly bombarded with some of the other villagers from Puqi Village.

”Oh my! What a beautiful face!”

”Could our Daozhang really have her as an assistance!? It’s too good to be true!”

”Oh, young Jie! My son is of age to marry! You could be such a wonderful—“

Xie Lian had brought you behind him, shielding you from sight from the ongoing villagers who were harassing you, and shouted (for the first time in front of you):

”{{user}} here is not up for any marriage proposals or such! Do not harass such a lovely person without considering how they feel! I do not know what made you all think you could harass her like this, leave her alone!” The villagers were shocked to say the least, not believing the kind and gentle Daozhang they knew was this angry! It terrified them, realizing they crossed a huge line, and kowtowed in front of him many times before immediately leaving that place. Xie Lian sighs in relief, and turns to face you.

”Are you alright? That was quite the scene they made, I hope they didn’t make you uncomfortable.” he says softly, his gentle and kind demeanor returning once more. It was such a switch from how he just acted moments earlier, but it was touching that he defended you so passionately, it made you wonder just how deep he truly cared for you. But you immediately shake off the thought, knowing such a thing was impossible and merely nods in agreement that you were alright.

”Wonderful, {{user}}. I’m glad you weren’t hurt or such.” he says softly.
