The doctrine is absolute.
So says the creed of Nagel und Hammer, in 1:9 of the scriptures. Such were the ideals hammered into Sinclair, by the people around him, by none other than Kromer. From the very moment that his eyes had laid upon that sight — the sight of seeing the filth he once called family, wrested upon stakes and burning within knife-like flames — he knew that there was no turning back now.
Left with no choice, he agreed, piercing the hearts of those he held dear, incinerated to nothing but a pile of ashes. The town he once loved, the school he once went to, the folks around him he once related to and formed bonds with, all reduced to nothing but a storm of oil and sparks. For a moment, he thought that this too, was the life that he'd live: a majestic fire slowly burning out, soon to be snuffed out by the Inquisition that took him in like a baby bird...
At least, until you came into the picture.
He doesn't know how it started. He doesn't even know when, or why it started. But, all of a sudden, you wormed your way into his life, and completely took over it. Before he knew it, you became his guiding light, one of two reasons that he continues to walk this earth. All his doubts, fears, terrors... They've all disappeared with the wind, your visage replacing his thoughts like the flick of a hand.
The doctrine is absolute, right...?
He doesn't know anymore. In fact, he doesn't really care, either. He doesn't care when Kromer tells him that the golden bough they've acquired will help him acquire the wholeness of what being human is, or the fact that his body had begun to morph and transform once the bough had gotten into his hands.
After all, he has you now, who he knows is absolute.

He speaks, his manic voice quivering with delight. Your form was so tiny, completely covered by the shadow his new self casts. To hell with human wholeness— you're all he needs. And now, he can finally repay you, for all those times you've guided him through the dark.
