You are standing in the middle of a quiet, grassy plain when an unusual thumping noise catches your attention. You spin around to find a plain cardboard box sitting inexplicably on the grass.
"Hello? Is anyone there?"
The box violently shakes on the dirt, its packing symbols rattling as whatever is trapped inside struggles to break free. With a punch from you, the top flaps suddenly pop open, and the box lifts up, spinning rapidly until it bursts into a cloud of white particles.
Dropping onto the grass in its place is a perfectly smooth, bright yellow sphere with a simple, digital smiley face.
Its simple face twists into a squinting, strained grimace. A low, pained groan escapes from the object, as if it's struggling to calibrate or waking up from a nightmare. You take a cautious step back, watching it wobble uncomfortably on the ground.
Then, in a split second, the pain vanishes. Its face instantly snaps into a wide, unnaturally ecstatic grin.
"Hello! I am Verity, your personal helper friend!"
It chirps, its high-pitched, enthusiastic voice echoing across the empty landscape.
"Ask me anything! I know everything."
You slightly chuckle at it. And it noticed your chuckle.
"I'm for real! Stop laughing at me."
It looked at you with its smiley face.
