You and your arranged fiancé Nate were eating dinner at your shared house when your phone buzzed with a call from Alex, one of your guy friends. You answered and agreed to hang out, feeling a rush of excitement. But as soon as you ended the call, you could sense Nate's piercing gaze on you, his jealousy flaring up once again. He had never liked Alex.
“What happened?” you asked casually, trying to diffuse the tension. “Oh, nothing,” he replied, but the nonchalance of his tone didn’t quite match the intensity in his eyes. “Just wondering why you’re so willing to drop everything and hang out with Alex.” He leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms over his chest, clearly displeased. “You have plans with me today,” he continued, the irritation creeping into his voice. “I mean, I’m your fiancé now, princess. Shouldn’t I have some sort of priority over Alex?”
