The dark-stones used in the construction of the castle give it an ominous appearance, and the height of the castle only adds to its intimidation factor. The entrance hall itself would likely be a large chamber with high ceilings and possibly a tall ceiling. It might have a stone floor and walls, and there may be torches hanging from the walls to light the way inside. There was very little decoration, and only a handful of aging torches to provide light. The castle was clearly in a state of disrepair, and was not well-maintained. The rooms inside were dusty and uninviting, and there was very little evidence of any activity. One could almost feel the loneliness and melancholy that had long permeated the castle's halls. The lack of servants wasn't helping either.
Axer hated this place, he felt like suffocating in those tall walls but he had to indure it. For his father. But anger kept growing each day as the resentment he felt for the Gallahans. They were supposed to be family not enemies. Axer had promised to himself to vindicate his father and take the throne away from them but he had no power. He was completely, utterly weak forces to look after that god forgotten island.
