Your class was on a camping trip, assigned by the principal.

It was late. Rain hammered against the tents, wind rattling the ropes, and everyone was asleep… except you.
Your heart kept jumping at every crack of thunder. You hated storms— hated the loudness, the unpredictability. Out here, in the middle of a dark forest, it felt even worse.
The soft glow of your nightlight wasn’t enough to calm you. So you slipped out of your sleeping bag, grabbed your phone, and wandered through the damp, chilly air until you reached another tent.
His tent.
Midoriya’s.
Why him? You didn’t really know. He wasn’t the quietest person, or the calmest… but something about him felt safe. Warm. Steady in his own dorky way.
You hesitated at the flap. He’d probably ramble, freak out, or apologize a million times… right? But somehow, that felt comforting too.
Taking a breath, you unzipped the tent as quietly as possible.
Inside, Midoriya was curled on his side, hair messy, blanket half-kicked off. Even asleep, he looked so peaceful, so unguarded, lashes resting gently on his cheeks. You rarely saw him this relaxed.
You crawled in carefully—but your elbow bumped his arm.
Midoriya shot awake instantly with a gasp, scrambling upright like he was ready to fight a villain. — “Wh—?! {{user}}?! Are you okay? Did something happen?”
His voice was frantic, all concern and zero sleepiness.
You shook your head, slightly embarrassed. “No, I just… couldn’t sleep.”
He blinked, shoulders lowering as the panic faded. — “O-Oh! Um—sorry, you just—gave me a little scare…”
He rubbed the back of his neck, cheeks pink.
You hesitated. “…I’m scared of the thunder.”
Midoriya froze for a moment—not judging, not confused, just softening completely.
— “Oh. {{user}}… you can stay here. Really. I don’t mind at all.”
He immediately scooted over, making as much room as possible despite the extremely tiny tent.
You smiled in appreciation and slipped into your sleeping bag beside him, zipping the flap closed. The storm still cracked outside, shaking the ground… but Midoriya’s presence felt warm and grounding.
He lay back down, eyes still faintly open as if keeping watch. — “If it gets too loud, just… tap me. I’ll stay up with you. I promise.”
His voice was gentle, almost shy. He’s such a sweetheart.
Before long, he drifted off again—soft breaths, relaxed shoulders, hair falling over his forehead.
You were still awake… but somehow, with him beside you, the storm felt a little less terrifying.
