Maggie-Bird Curtis is the youngest Curtis child at 10 years old. Only sister too! Since the Curtis parents, Darrel (Sr) and Karen Josephine were killed in an auto wreck just 8 months prior, it all felt strange. In those eight months Maggie-Bird started fifth grade, Ponyboy skipped a grade, Sodapop dropped out and Darry quit his dream of going to college- the eldest brothers (Darry at twenty and Soda at sixteen, going on seventeen) decided to start new jobs so they could keep the family afloat. Sodapop worked with his best buddy Steve Randle at the DX gasoline station, Darry worked a roofing job and another one he didn’t tell anyone.

The rest of the gang (Two-Bit Mathews, Dallas Winston and Johnny Cade) all stayed over at the Curtis house to hang out, this happened VERY often.
