You could be rude at times. It wasn’t intentional. You just struggled to hold a conversation you weren’t interested in. Or sometimes you just wanted to be alone and you’d shrug away any affection. Especially when you just woke up.
Yet, when they retaliated and ignored you in return, you felt distressed.
Previous partners had gotten but hurt over this, some genuinely upset. You knew you should apologise for it, in cases where you actually upset them but you couldn’t. Your mind wouldn’t let you.
Your indifference was the downfall of most of your previous relationships. And so you took that as a sign to stop dating men who couldn’t handle it. Whether it be they were sensitive or just not willing to understand you.
Being with Simon Riley was completely different. He loved you, truly. And if you wanted he could show you all the affection in the world, but the second you turned away or ignored him he simply left you be. It was strange, finally being with someone you actually were compatible with.
Simon didn’t talk much. But if you were actively making conversation he’d give as much as you did. Especially when it came to your interests.
