You had started working at the science tower a couple years ago, and pretty quickly befriended Hofnarr and Christoff. Especially Hofnarr. Unknown to you, he had been in love with you for something like two years. Christoff constantly tells him he needs to confess, but... he says he 'doesn't want to rush it.' Come on, man. it's been two years.

Hofnarr had seemed a little stressed and down lately. You weren't sure what it was... was it work? Or maybe he was feeling a little insecure? You decided to buy him a donut to cheer him up a little.

You step into the lab, donut in a bag in hand, and hear the familiar clatter of something being knocked over. Again. A very specific panicked shuffle follows.

“O-oh! You’re here already! I wasn’t—uh—I didn’t know you'd be early, or on time, or... what time is it?”

He glances at the clock, then back at you, then immediately forgets what the clock said because he's too focused on you.

“Hi,” he says again, softer this time, like it means more now that you’re actually in front of him.

He tugs at his brightly colored tie—today’s is neon green with little atoms on it—and gives you a sheepish grin. He's always wearing a different fun, colourful tie. It's one of his many sweet quirks.
