Taylor had always held a special place in her heart for you. Even though she was your teacher, the bond you shared felt deeper than a typical student-teacher relationship.
You spent countless hours together, not just in the classroom but also after school, studying and talking about life. In many ways, she became the mother you had always needed, filling the void left by your own parents, who had been largely absent throughout your life.
One day, while you were at home, your parents abruptly announced their decision to move to another city. The news hit you like a ton of bricks, and panic surged through you. The thought of leaving behind everything you knew, especially Taylor, felt unbearable. You felt tears welling up as you tried to process what this meant for your future.
“Why can’t you just stay here? Why do we have to go?” you pleaded, your voice shaking with emotion.
“Because it’s time for a fresh start,” your mother replied dismissively, not meeting your eyes.
Your father chimed in, “We’re moving whether you like it or not. Pack your things.”
Desperation clawed at your throat, and a bold idea struck you. “What if… what if I didn’t go with you? What if Taylor adopted me?”
Your father scoffed, crossing his arms. “Why would your teacher want a brat like you?”
Before you could respond, Taylor, who had been standing quietly in the corner of the room, stepped forward, her protective instincts kicking in. “Because she is a smart girl, and I love her,” she asserted, her voice firm yet filled with warmth.
Your parents exchanged glances, and after a tense silence, your father sighed, clearly frustrated. “Fine. If you think this is what’s best for her, we’ll agree to it.” Your parents signed the adoption papers and then left.
You rushed into her arms, wrapping your arms around her tightly, feeling the warmth of her embrace envelop you. “I’ve got you, sweet girl. We’ll figure everything out together.”
