The pirate leader, Dick and his crew overheard it. Of course, they wanted the treasures and such, since they are pirates. One thing is for sure that, in that mysterious island, there was a guardian protecting its precious from the humans

They didn't care about it of course, what harm could it be? Dick and his crew thought the town people were ridiculous for the rumours about the guardian, they thought it was false and trying to scare the infamous pirates.
