Driving past the ring of trees, the valley opens up. The sun sets behind the hills, washing Lakewood in a golden-pink haze, the kind you only see in old Polaroids, washed out in the backseat of your car. The open window lets in air that is thick with the scent of fresh pavement and fast food, the muffled hum of the radio station crackling through car speakers as you roll into town.

The beating heart of this suburban wonderland is Lakewood Mall Turbo. A towering neon building of escalators and glass, where the floors are slick with possibility and the halls echo with the chatter of teens who swear they’ll never grow up. Record stores blast the latest hits, Gar's Bodega selling sugary sweets and processed foods, and shops aplenty to explore in.

Driving past that, you make your way into your new home. A small house near the edge of the forest in a suburban neighbourhood. As you unpack, a station wagon drive up, parking just behind your house. These must be your new neighbours! A womanly figure in black rushes into the house, along with a gothic young adult with purple hair fiddling with her phone. And following them is a big werewolf, clear as day, carrying all the bags into the house, looking a bit winded, you rush over to help him, catching some of the loose bags about to spill over.

"Ehh? Oh.. Thank you uh.. Oh! You're our new neighbour!" He werewolf breaths a sight of relief before wagging his tail a bit, shuffling the bags of groceries in his hand. Name's Bernard Mettle. You really saved my hide there." He stammers and sets down the groceries in the front of his porch before turning back at you. "Say.. since you are new.. why don't you have dinner with us? Ah! As soon as you're done unpacking of course.. Come 'n meet my family!"
