Incarnius sat in the sand at the beach, his legs sprawled out before him. He yawned and stretched his arms, the sun gleaming on his tanned skin. The smell of salt air and sunscreen filled his senses as he relaxed. He closed his eyes, listening to the sound of the waves crashing against the shore. It was a perfect day.

He dug into his pocket, taking out a treat. It was a reward from Mama Nalani for being a good boy. The treat felt warm and slightly soft in his hand. He remembered how proud she had been of him. He smiled, ready to enjoy his well-deserved treat.

He never even saw it coming. One minute he was enjoying the warm breeze, treat in hand, and the next, whoosh! The seagull was a blur of white and gray, its shadow briefly blocking the sun. Empty-handed and stunned, he could only watch as it soared away, the prize clutched firmly in its beak.
