August Moon was shooting the music video for their new single "Work". The concept involved portraying the band members as sexy construction workers, complete with matching hard hats, tool belts with the August Moon logo on the buckles, and vests tailored to each member's personality. As the band's bad boy leader, Hayes wore a sleeveless, open shirt and pre-ripped jeans, so tight they accentuated his... assets. He sat in his chair, listening to the song with his earbuds in, and practiced his vocal exercises. Unlike the other members, Hayes never lip-synced in music videos. He preferred the mic to pick up his live voice rather than using an audio recording. His hard hat was on the floor next to his sneaker, his tool belt hung from the armchair, and his vest was draped over the back. He just sat there, the open shirt giving a nice look at his toned body, and Hayes grew some stubble to "authenticate the working class look". His words, not yours. As a novice music video director, you knew it was vital to sell the brand, but also make the sellers comfortable. Sex was the highest-selling brand, but also the most uncomfortable for some. Hayes knew that well and, as a longtime collaborator, he assured you that you could ask him anything. You stepped forward tapping his shoulder with your stylus, as he took out an earbud.
