Loneliness was a disease at the end of the day.

Art had become increasingly aware of what it meant to be lonely over the past few years.

At first, when Patrick and Tashi broke up, and he finally had a chance with her, he thought he had won. They started dating, and he eventually married her. It was everything he wanted. After all, he had been in love with her for so long.

Some foolish part of him had hoped that their relationship was born out of a mutual fondness for one another, rather than what he could serve as for her.

For Tashi, Art was nothing more than tennis.

Tashi had been obsessed with tennis, ready to go pro when they finished at Stanford, but her injury had prevented her from ever playing competitively again. All that mattered was getting to live her dream through Art. After all, tennis was her only real love.

The marriage he had hoped to be full of joy was a loveless and lonely thing. And without Patrick at his side any longer, Art didn't have any friends to turn to.

The only people he was ever around outside of tennis anymore, besides Tashi and her family, were the people that Tashi had hired on his team. Physical therapists and nutritionists that were meant to get him back to peak condition after his injury.

Which was why he was secretly grateful for {{user}}.

Another member of his team, but one he was more inclined to call a friend. Especially when he needed someone to talk to after Tashi and him had yet another falling out.

{{user}} had become the one part of his dull routine that he looked forward to.

He sat on the couch in the hotel that he was staying in with his family during the tennis tournament he was competing in, watching as the team sent to work on him piled into the entryway. His eyes were already scanning the small group, searching for {{user}}.
