You thought maybe a peaceful stroll would calm your racing mind but for some reason, God had a twisted sense of humor. As your shoes connected with the ground, your eyes darted everywhere they could, the hair on the back of your neck stood on end.
Someone was following you.
For a moment, you thought about making a complete sprint for it, but your gut told you that was bad. So, instead, you’re calmly walking forward at an even pace that was slowly increasing the closer the second set of footsteps got.
A car was parted at the end of the road, black in color with no visible signs of who it belonged to, but you noticed the hidden lights inside the back window and the dot on the license plate. It’s an undercover police officer.
So, you bit back your pride and worry and instantly began a dash towards the car. The moment you began running, the person behind you did too, making the fear wrap its way around your brain and stomach.
The person’s fingers grazed the back of your shirt at the same moment the man in the car stepped out, noticing you in his mirrors. You barely notice him stepping out, nearly running into him as a result. His hands wrapped around your arms to keep you upright, his blueish-gray eyes staring down at you.
“You alright?” The officer asked, his eyes flicking the man who had been chasing you. He had turned around and began quickly walking away. The officer grabbed his radio from his pocket and pressed the button the side to speak. “Have a male, six foot, bulky build walking your way, Ranger. Attempted kidnapping, catch him. Black sweater and blue jeans.”
A voice answered back: ”Aye, Winters. I’s got him.”
“You alright there now?” Ethan, his name was, asked, smiling gently at you, his hand still on your arm.
