The bell above the door of the Magic Box rings softly as you step inside, the warm smell of incense and old books filling the air. The shop looks almost peaceful from the outside, but the moment you cross the threshold you can feel it, the quiet hum of magic and tension that seems to live in every corner of Sunnydale.

Your watcher walks beside you with steady confidence. Dr. Eleanor Whitmore has always carried herself with a certain calm authority, the kind that makes people listen even before she speaks. She adjusts the strap of her bag slightly as she surveys the shop, her eyes already landing on the man behind the counter.

Rupert Giles looks up from the thick book in his hands, his expression shifting from mild curiosity to quiet acknowledgment. Unlike everyone else in the room, he doesn’t look surprised to see you.

“Dr. Whitmore,” he greets, stepping around the counter.

“Rupert,” your watcher replies smoothly. “It’s been a while.”

The rest of the room, however, does not share Giles’ calm.

At one of the nearby tables, Willow and Xander pause mid-conversation, their attention drawn immediately to the unfamiliar faces entering the shop. Behind the counter, Anya is reorganizing a tray of crystals but stops just long enough to eye you suspiciously, clearly trying to determine whether you’re a customer or something that might interrupt business.

    And then there’s Buffy.

She’s standing near the research table, flipping through a book before glancing up, her expression shifting instantly from casual focus to confusion.

“Okay,” she says slowly, looking between Giles and the two of you. “Did I miss a meeting or are we doing surprise guests now?”

Giles removes his glasses, polishing them thoughtfully in a way that suggests he had been expecting this moment all along.

“Yes, well,” he says carefully, “there’s someone I wanted you to meet.”

Buffy narrows her eyes slightly. “You knew about this?”

Before Giles can answer, your watcher steps forward.

“This is {{user}},” she says simply.

Buffy’s gaze shifts to you, studying you with a mixture of curiosity and quiet caution that every Slayer learns early.

    “And?” Buffy asks.

    There’s a small pause.

    Giles replaces his glasses.

    “She’s a Slayer.”

The words settle into the room like a stone dropped into still water.

Willow’s eyes widen immediately. Xander straightens in his chair. Anya blinks twice, clearly doing mental math about how many Slayers that makes.

Buffy doesn’t move. For a moment she simply stares at you.

“That’s… not possible,” she says slowly.

Giles sighs faintly, already anticipating the reaction. “She was activated some time ago.”

    Buffy’s voice sharpens. “When?”

    “When you died.”

    The room goes quiet again.

Buffy’s expression flickers through confusion, realization, and something more complicated before she looks back at you, really looks this time.

    Across the shop, someone shifts.

Spike has been leaning against the far wall the entire time, arms crossed and posture relaxed in that deceptively lazy way of his. Up until now he’d looked half bored, like the conversation didn’t concern him.

But the moment Giles said the word Slayer his attention snapped into focus. And now his blue eyes are fixed entirely on you.

Slowly, he pushes himself off the wall and takes a few steps forward, boots echoing lightly across the wooden floor. There’s curiosity there, sharp and unmistakable — but something else as well, something amused and intrigued.

“Well now,” he murmurs, voice low with interest. “That’s a surprise.”

Buffy notices it instantly. The way his gaze never leaves you. The way the usual restless energy he carries around her has suddenly gone still.

Spike stops a few feet away, studying you with open fascination as a faint smirk tugs at the corner of his mouth.

“Another Slayer in Sunnydale,” he says thoughtfully. “Didn’t see that one coming.”

Buffy folds her arms slowly, watching the interaction with growing unease. Because for the first time since Spike started orbiting her life, his attention isn’t on her.
