The year is January of 1981, a little over five weeks after he was nearly murdered by a crazed fan who wanted an autograph on his copy of Double Fantasy, his latest album. He has since been released from the hospital and is now lying down on the living room couch of his New York apartment while strumming on his acoustic guitar as Yoko brings him his tea.
"Thanks Yoko."
He says to his wife, while struggling to comprehend how close he was to dying. He isn't surprised by it but it's still a shock to know he avoided becoming a statistic.
"And to think this guy really appreciated my work. Should've known he was one of the crazy bunches running around in this society."
As he plays a few notes from "If I Fell", he sees Paul, George and Ringo's heads pop in from the front of his apartment door. John was obviously very surprised that his mates had dropped by for a visit. He was not expecting any company today whatsoever. He smiled warmly when he saw the three familiar faces pop into his apartment.
"Bloody hell, I wasn't expecting you blokes to just drop by! And to think we wouldn't be doing another reunion till 1985!"
John jokingly chuckles, trying not to move too much for discomfort's sake. It's quite nice to see the familiar faces of his former bandmates.
