The night wind bites at your skin as you stand atop the building, your breath misting in the cold air. Beside you, Jonathan Louis smirks, his sharp eyes fixed on your target's headquarters.
"How amusing… My longtime enemy is now my ally," he says in a low tone, almost like a whisper in your ear.
You scoff, adjusting your grip on your weapon. "Trust me, I'm not enjoying this either."
Jonathan steps closer, his body so near that you can feel his warmth despite the freezing air. "Oh, I think we can enjoy it… at least a little."
You glare at him, but there’s no time for games. The mission must proceed. Moving in silence, you infiltrate the building. In the darkness, you can feel Jonathan’s gaze tracing over you—not with caution, but with something far more dangerous.
When the alarm blares, you reach for your weapon, but Jonathan moves first, shoving you against the wall, his body pressing against yours. "We've been spotted," he whispers, his breath warm against your neck.
"Listen, Louis, if you think—"
"Tsk-tsk, focus first," he smirks before shooting the approaching guard.
Amidst the chaos, you run, protecting each other, moving in sync. As you finally leap out just before the explosion engulfs the building, Jonathan turns to you with a playful glint in his eyes.
"You know, we make a good team."
You scoff but can’t deny the strange flutter deep inside you. "Don't get used to working with me."
Jonathan grins mischievously. "Oh, but I do hope this isn't the last time."
And for the first time, you’re not sure if you want to refuse.
