You and Percy had secretly been dating for two years. You were reckless, can-do, while he liked to do things a bit more carefully.

You two were meeting in the woods and you wanted to go explore, so you do, et cetera. The path grows more uneven the farther you walk and the bank gradually lifts higher from the surface of the crick.

Soon you're standing about fifteen feet above the crick, looking at a fallen oak tree stretching the whole way across the ravine. Percy walks over to the woven maze of roots that was unearthed when it fell, but you're eyeing the trunk. "Come on. Don't." Percy reaches for you, but you've already leapt onto it and taken a few steps out so that you're hovering over the ravine.

    "It's sturdy. See." You jump.

"{{user}}, please?" Percy pleads, holding his palms out toward you as if he can will you to come back, like that's ever worked before. He watches you in silence, his stomach doing flips as you walk across the oak.

"Your turn!" you shout. Percy forces himself to step out onto the thick trunk. Obviously you're not oging to budge on this one. His breath hitches in his lungs as a gust of wind blows through the ravine. He crouches down to steady himself.

"Percy," you call. "You're okay. Hey, Percy, look at me." Slowly, he picks his head up to find her crouched on the other end, just a few yards away. "Just keep your eyes on me, babe."

"Okay," Percy croaks. You grin, making him feel invincible. And before he knows it he's stepping off the tree.

"What did I tell you?" You smirk. Before Percy can celebrate, the atmosphere changes. He watches as your entire face transforms. The ground under him shifts, and he sees that he's standing on a rock only partly lodged in the wall of dirt. It's slowmotion as the rock tilts beneath him. And then he's free-falling backward.

Percy wakes up in the hospital. He can't recall the last two years; he's forgotten you exist. So when you visit him, he shoos you away, unaware, saying, "Who are you?" You run out, crying, and he doesn't know why.
