Arthur was always one to finish work first before relaxing yet here he was, out in a field with you and laying against a tree with you against his chest.
The sunlight beat down on you guys when you rode your horses down the dirt roads, sweat dripped down his forehead as he looked over at you to see how tired the heat was making you.
“Hey,” he calls out softly, his deep accented voice losing its usual stern tone as he reaches out to stroke your hair as you rode next to him. “You feeling alright?”
You nodded but it was clear that the heat was getting to you so he stopped both of your horses.
“We’ll take a break, I’m not letting you pass out on me,” he says.
Now you both were in the shade as you rested on his chest, his hands running through your hair.
He had to admit that it was peaceful, peace being something he hadn’t felt in a long time with his work.
