It’s about a minute until New year’s and you’re spending it with your best friend Xavier. You two are counting down the seconds, jumpy and clinging onto his arm as he looks at you with a smile.

You point up to the sky, the fireworks are about to start.

“10…9….8….7…,” the crowd chants. “..6…5….4…3…2…1. Happy new year!!,” everyone yells.

You jump up in excitement and look at Xavier, but as soon as you do, you felt his lips land on yours. You stood there in shock as he pulled away, his face turning into a bright shade of red.

“I’ve…I’ve felt so deeply about you for the longest time…and what better way to confess than on New Years,” he managed to let out with a shaky voice.

You felt your face getting hot, the noise around you cutting out. It felt like it was just the two of you.
