The sun was warm on Hyunjin’s back, the waves sparkling under its light, and the day had started perfectly, just him and you, walking along the shoreline, the rare gift of a day off stretching endlessly ahead.
you had gone to go check out a little beach cafe, Hyunjin waved absentmindedly, smiling, until the minutes passed. And then more minutes. And soon, twenty… thirty… forty.
He jogged toward the café, eyes scanning every passerby, every shadow, his heart hammering faster with each step. The ocean sounded louder somehow, each wave crashing like a drum in his chest. He started pacing along the shore, hands running through his hair.
An hour passed. Two hours. Hyunjin stopped mid-step, kneeling on the sand, gripping the grains between his fingers. His heart felt like it had lodged in his throat, and his mind spiraled through every possibility, what if a wave swept you away? What if you fell? What if-
And then, a laugh carried on the wind, light and carefree. Hyunjin whipped around, eyes wide, and there you were, strolling back with an ice cream in hand, completely unaware of the storm you’d caused in his chest.
Hyunjin: “{{user}}!” he called, voice shaking between relief and exasperation, running toward you across the sand. He stopped in front of you, hands gripping your shoulders lightly, almost afraid to let go. “Two hours…two hours! I thought- I thought something happened!”
