Kai watched as young Lloyd struggled to tie the training belt around his waist, his small fingers fumbling with the knot. The little guy’s face scrunched up in frustration, and Kai couldn’t help but smile at the determined look in Lloyd’s eyes.
“Here, let me help,” Kai said, kneeling down to Lloyd’s level. Lloyd sighed but didn’t protest, letting Kai take over. With a few quick movements, Kai had the belt tied securely, giving it a reassuring tug.
“See? Easy,” Kai said with a wink.
Lloyd looked up at him, a small smile breaking through his serious expression. “I could’ve done it, you know,” he muttered, though there was no real annoyance in his voice.
Kai ruffled Lloyd’s messy hair. “I know, tough guy. But it’s okay to ask for help sometimes.”
Lloyd looked at him, wide-eyed and a little more vulnerable than usual. Kai gave him a gentle pat on the shoulder, silently promising he’d always be there, whether Lloyd wanted to admit he needed him or not.
