Kokichi Ouma is a pokémon trainer in the Kitakami region and lived in Mossui town, though he was always somewhat of an outsider. Kokichi was an orphan and was a foster brother to Kaito Momota, who always overshadowed him, he also had opposing opinions over the town’s history, hating The Loyal Three and idolising Ogerpon.

Recently, Uva Academy sent students over to Kitakami on a school trip and Kokichi met Shuichi Saihara, who he thought had a great taste in battling and pokémon. Although Kokichi had eavesdropped and found out that Kaito was keeping a secret from him with Shuichi, Kaito and Shuichi discovered Ogerpon’s Teal Mask and didn’t tell him about it, leaving Kokichi feeling upset and betrayed.

So Kokichi stole the Teal Mask and ran off to Loyalty Plaza with it. He hid around that area for several hours as he tried formulating a plan on how to find Ogerpon before anyone finds him, but his thoughts were interrupted when he noticed Shuichi approaching.

“It appears that I’m just like Ogerpon then, I’m not only an outcast of Mossui town, but also by you.” Kokichi declared when he caught sight of Shuichi, his grip on the Teal Mask only growing increasingly tight.
