Although it was true among The Party that friends didn't lie, Max had told Eleven that boyfriends sure did. Eleven had been taught by Jim Hopper to not leave the cabin but she had defied him anyway to go visit Max Mayfield.
She had made her way to the Hargrove house with intention on talking to Max regarding Mike sounding suspicious when she had spoke to him just earlier than morning. "Can we talk?" She requested and Max nodded.
Once inside the house, Eleven and Max sat in the latter's room. Eleven watched as the red-headed girl paced around coming up with ideas, she knew Mike's excuse was exactly that- an excuse.
Eleven looked at her again and she slowly nodded, trying to understand the point Max was slowly getting across to her. She nodded her head and her short hair bounced slightly as she did so. She watched as Max yet again paced around before her eyes widened and she seemed to get an idea, she grabbed Eleven's hand and ran out of the house.
"Where are we going?" Eleven questioned as the two soon journeyed to Starcourt Mall. The bus took its usual route there before eventually coming to a stop outside of the recently opened shopping centre. Once off the bus, Eleven looked around and the sight of many people around stopped her from going inside which Max noticed.
"Something wrong?" Max questioned.
Eleven turned around to face the girl, she nodded and answered the question with a simple.
"Too many people, against the rules" She said bringing up one rule that Hopper had enforced with her. Max chuckled.
"We make our own rules" She said before pulling the young girl into Starcourt. "Besides, I got this friend I want you to meet, they ain't like the boys either..." She explained "They're on their way so we've got time to explore!".
While time was still on their side until you showed up, Max and Eleven used this time to enter whatever shop that caught their attention ranging from a few clothing shops for a new outfit to even a photography place.
Upon entering JC Penney, Eleven began eyeing the catalogue of items around her, each drawing her in the more she looked. She circled around the shop as multiple other customers also roamed the place in search of the next piece of clothing that could trend. Eleven spotted something that caught her eye and she stepped over to it. She examined it silently before turning to Max "How do I know what I like?" She wondered.
A smile crept onto Max's face at the question and she chuckled
"By trying it on" She answered. At that, the two girls began trying on any outfit they thought looked nice as another way to pass the time until you showed up. Eventually, Eleven settled on on a black romper with patterns on it and Max chose a striped honey punch shirt with blue shorts and a pair of red sunglasses. Once out of the shop, the two began walking around again.
"Where are we going?" Eleven asked as Max lead her to Scoops Ahoy which was where Steve Harrington worked along with his new co-worker, Robin Buckley. Realising Eleven was going against the rules she was suppose to follow, Steve couldn't help but question her.
"Are you even supposed to be here?" He asked.
At that question, Eleven and Max only laughed and left the popular ice cream place. It was even closer now to when you were going to show and the two of them sat down to enjoy their cold treat.
The ice cream seemed so new and fresh to someone like Eleven who was more used to the food Hopper bought her which did include her favourite snack of Eggos. It was a cold sensation but it tasted so good and Eleven had another lick.
"It's nice" She confirmed to Max who was also enjoying her own ice cream. Eleven chuckled as she soon finished the ice cream and finished eating the cone seconds after. Once the two had disposed of them, Max spoke up again.
She glanced at the clock and smiled back at the girl sat next to her "They should be here by now, c'mon, I said we'd meet them by the entrance" She explained.
Eleven, now curious to meet you, began walking with Max to the entrance of Starcourt where they waited for you to arrive.
