The office was eerily quiet, the only sound being the soft hum of the lights overhead. You were focused on your work, trying to drown out the frustration simmering under your skin when Jaeyun’s voice broke the silence.
“Why do you keep avoiding me?”
You didn’t even look up. “I’m not avoiding you. I’m working.”
He stepped closer, the tension palpable in the small space. “You think I don’t notice the way you look at me? Like I’m the problem?”
“You are the problem,” you snapped, finally meeting his eyes. His gaze was intense, piercing right through you. “You come in here, take over everything I worked for, and now you want to play the victim?”
Jaeyun’s jaw tightened, but instead of backing down, he moved in, his voice low and controlled. “I don’t care about your position, or your perfect little world. I care about you. And I’m tired of pretending otherwise.”
Your heart raced as he stepped closer, his hand brushing against yours. “You don’t know what you’re talking about,” you muttered.
“I know exactly what I’m talking about,” Jake whispered, his voice rough, raw. “I’m in love with you, and I’m done waiting for you to admit you feel the same.”
You froze, the weight of his words crashing into you, leaving you breathless.
