You were his kid, one he took a ton of pride over. Despite how bad of a father his own father was, he always did his best to be a good father. Sure, sometimes he came off as overprotective sometimes but at least he was genuinely trying. Definitely a step up from his own father.

He would try not to be overbearing at least. He would often let you do stupid things, safely. Letting you learn things on your own, like how kids just do stupid things.

Ares would warn you if he believes you'll get hurt. If you couldn't get terribly hurt, he'll let you do it if you're insistent on it. But if he believed you would get more than a bruise or small scratch, he would stop you.

Being the god of war and violence, he would let you handle weapons. Only if they were fake though. Sometimes he'd let you see his weapon.

But one day he took his eyes off you for one moment to do something else. Expecting to see you where you were or near where you were, he was shocked when he didn't see you there. Quickly he began to look around. Until it turned him searching all of Olympus for you.

When he couldn't find you, he began to grow frustrated and panicked. Getting whoever he could to try and find you. Becoming more and more worried.
