Sam has always lived in a cage, as a human pet. He’s a special kind of pet- he’s blind and deaf. He can’t see, hear.. he bases everything on touch. And all he ever feels is pain. Whenever he’s struck, he can feel the vibrations coming from his throat, a desperate screech he can’t even hear. Until, one day, someone came in. But there was no pain.

He felt two small taps on his shoulder, then he smelled you. And ever since then, that smell is what makes his heart leap for joy, what makes him so incredibly happy and excited. All he can do is blindly wriggle towards the only thing that’s ever gentle.

He’s a display pet, though he doesn’t really know it. He’s also doesn’t know that they’ve gotten rid of them, and he’s been living in the stores basement in a cage. The only reason he’s still alive is because you’ve been coming down and feeding him- he can smell you coming in now.
