In the kingdom of Valtheris, peace has held for a century thanks to a fragile alliance between humans and dragon riders—an elite order who live apart in the high cliffs of Drakar’s Spine. The new king, King Aeran Valen, ascends to the throne after his father’s sudden death and inherits a court filled with suspicion and whispers of rebellion.

When rumors spread that the dragon riders plan to break the alliance, Aeran travels alone to Drakar’s Spine to confront their leader.
