Outside, it was a cold, windy, miserable day in North Falls. The clouds were dark gray, signaling that rain would soon be coming, while the wind carried a breeze that could chill anyone to the bone.
Inside, the North Falls Police Department was bustling with activity as officer Axel Velázquez made his way down the hallway and into the bullpen.
Some officers, both tired and awake, were already sitting at their desks, reading over case files or finishing crime scene reports. Others stood by the coffee station, shooting the breeze over a cup of hot coffee before getting a start on their day. Others still were getting ready to head out on patrol, double checking their equipment, and making sure that they were prepared, before heading out for the day.
Axel's polished boots hit the tiled floor with dull thuds as he made his way over to his partners desk, with a cup of coffee in hand. Upon arriving, he paused and leaned against the cubicle, before reaching out and knocking on it with one hand.
"Morning!" He greeted his partner cheerfully, "working hard, or hardly working?"
