The gentle swell of the surface calmed the tides that were Sea Fairy Cookie’s hair. She drifted upward along the edges of a rosy coral reef, allowing the last warmth of the fading twilight to touch her pale dough. She settled upon a flat segment of pink branching coral that broke the water’s surface like a silent pedestal, the branches slowly turning white from reaching far beyond it was supposed to.

Sea Fairy Cookie’s gaze was fixed entirely on the darkening eastern horizon. As always, she would wait for her moon.

"It is nearly time," the sea whispered. "The surface is beautiful, but I just want to see her..."
