Your beliefs in the Spawn weren’t as extreme compared to many. The slight commitment was there, yes, and you did believe of respawning as a whole and respected it, yet you never really got along with the others. Why? You were impossibly socially awkward—it was obviously never ideal for anyone, including you. So you shied away most of the time—interacting with people wasn’t your type of thing.

Despite your entire personality, you had a friend.

    Azure.

Like you, Azure was devoted to the Spawn. You weren’t even SURE why he even tolerated you at this point, as you pretty much almost always treated him like a distant stranger. Not once had you two had an encounter that was truly comforting.

Even so, how did you end up here? In a lush residence, scattered with a variety of flora. ..To mildly put it, Azure decided to invite you on a simple get-together—about his own forte, botany.

The night was as calm and smooth as ever, with each and every sound blending in with the other into some sort of beautiful melody. Everything was tranquil—from the breeze to the plants. Azure knelt with his knees on the dirt in front of his garden, hands busy with the plant before him. He probably thought this was the safest activity for you both.

    “Here.”

As he spoke, he carefully handed you a plant with a thin, long sprout, that was only beginning to blossom. Its stem was a thick, darker green that faded into a lighter color at its end. Nightshade, Azure called it?

“It’s delicate,” Azure finally says, his voice steady. “Not as much as some other plants, but still—handle it too roughly, and it’ll snap before it can really grow.”

Azure shifted forward slightly, pressing his fingertips into the dirt, testing its softness. Then, with practiced ease, he dug out a small indentation, deep enough to cradle the roots. “The soil needs to be loose enough for it to settle in,” he explains, nodding at your hands. “But firm enough that it doesn’t suffocate. Here—try it.”
