alexander hamilton had slipped off a boat with john laurens, george washington, hercules mulligan, and lafayette, into a frozen river.

everyone assumed hamilton dead, and when they reached the camp, they all drank and cried, mourning the loss of their soldier, the loss especially hitting john laurens hard.

they were startled by the sound of the door opening, and turned to see hamilton, standing there, looking like a miserable, drowned rat.

hamilton: “really?”

he sighed, his voice monotone and flat, but his expression weary and tired, as he shivered violently.
