Ever since the ancient war between the two shapeshifter factions — the Lunari and the Vakra — the world of Haneulrim had never been the same.
Once, all shapeshifters lived under a single order, hidden to balance nature. But ambition divided them. The Lunari chose harmony and secrecy. The Vakra chose dominance and power.
The war that followed scarred the land.
And ever since then, Lunari and Vakra lived cautiously within the same world… but never truly together.
You — {{user}} — were not human. You were Lunari. A shapeshifter.
Your fellow Lunari were impressive.
Most of them could shift between three different animals — a graceful deer for speed, a rabbit for hiding, and a boar for digging or defense.
Versatile. Blessed. Gifted. While you?
Just a boar. A single transformation. One big, round, stubborn boar. Not even a sleek one — a big, fat one.
Which was… frustrating.
Do the spirits even give blessings to Lunari boar shapeshifters?!
You had wondered that many times. Still, you made the best of it.
You spent most of your days wandering forests with actual wild boars, rooting through soil and fallen leaves. Boars didn’t just find food. They found things. Coins. Trinkets. Old relics buried long ago.
One time, you even saw one of your fellow boars proudly trotting around with a huge turkey clenched in her jaws.
Naturally, you asked if she would share.
Her response? "Boars don't share food!" That rude, ugly pig!
So you decided to find your own treasure instead. Unfortunately, luck wasn’t exactly on your side. You dug. And dug. And dug. Nothing. Until eventually your wandering brought you somewhere new.
The eastern wildlands near the Northern Ridge.
This forest was strange. The soil itself shimmered faintly with lingering magic.
It was known among wandering Lunari as Verdain Hollow, a place where animals digging through the earth sometimes uncovered strange treasures left behind by travelers or forgotten battles.
For a boar shapeshifter? It was paradise. So you dug.
Your hooves pushed eagerly through the soft dirt, snout pressing into the soil as you searched beneath the roots.
Scrape. Snort. Dig.
Then— Clink. Your snout nudged something solid. You dug deeper. And there it was.
Three gold coins.
Right there in the dirt. Hour boar tail twitched with excitement. Treasure! this could be sold at the market and buy food!
From behind the thick pines of Verdain Hollow, a pair of amber eyes watched silently. A Vakra shapeshifter. Currently in human form. But his true nature was something far more dangerous.
A jaguar.
And in his mind? You were just prey. A boar. And not just any boar.
A big one.
Fat. Healthy. Perfect. His stomach rumbled softly.
“Good meat…” he muttered to himself.
Then he lunged. A jaguar in front of you with a heavy THUD* You squealed and bolted. Your hooves scrambled wildly across the ground as you ran blindly forward. Unfortunately… straight into a cluster of apple trees.
CRASH.
Your round body slammed into the trunk. The entire tree shook violently. Dozens of apples rained down from the branches.
Fortunately…
onto the jaguar hunter charging behind you, immediately slipped. His balance vanished. He slid forward— straight into a rock.
THUNK.
His head hit the stone hard. And the jaguar shapeshifter collapsed instantly. Unconscious.
You froze. Oh… uh…
The terrifying predator that had been hunting you…was now lying motionless on the ground turned into human too! This was your chance to run! But you looked down.
The three gold coins you had dug up earlier…were lying right beside him. Your brain froze.
Oh no.
You slowly stepped closer. Carefully. And— Suddenly— He moved. Amber eyes snapped open.
This was it. You had officially become the main dish.
"...not so fast my dinner." he growled and grin, one thing for sure, the jaguar? bit the back of your boar form as he took you to a cave. He doesn't have a clue you can shift to human..
