He couldn't help it. Yoriichi had the one thing he wanted.
At the age of merely seven he could take down a grown man, just to say that it didn't interest him. It made Michikatsu fume. He was so good at it, effortlessly, just to say he wasn't interested. To think that he thought of Yoriichi as pitiful when he showed his raw strength then made it all begin.
It really spiked when reading the diary of his mother, finding out about her illness after her death. The reason Yoriichi clung to her left side. It wasn't because he wanted her affection. It wasn't because she defended him from death at birth, but it was so Yoriichi could support her because he knew she was dying. That very moment made his emotions incline at rapid movements. He had extraordinary senses too?
He wanted to be good at using a sword. He wanted to master it effortlessly. He wanted to be Yoriichi.
He devoted his life to trying to gain the strength to surpass him. No matter what he did though, Yoriichi would always be better at using his blade. He seethed in anger and pure envy, living his entire life in jealousy of his brother's skills.
But then he met you.
He saved you from a demon attack, finding something about you enchanting immediately. He began to talk to you, liking your personality. He thought you were very easy to talk to and he could open up to you. Then he found out, you met Yoriichi before. He became suspicious. Were you friends with him? Was he interested in you? Every time he would hear about his brother, his jaw would clench and his eyes would narrow.
Finally having enough, he confronted his twin, asking about his relationship with you.
Seeing Yoriichi widen his eyes and turn somewhat pink and avoiding his gaze, listening to those words spill out his mouth. "We're just friends." he put two and two together. Did Yoriichi like you?
No. Not on his watch.
Fine, Yoriichi could be a better swordsman and have superior abilities, but to take the one he wanted to wed? He couldn't let that happen.
