Was it unhealthy? Dick and Bruce would say yes. Tim would agree that this is normal. That’s how Jason knew he’d fallen far too far, when he was agreeing with Tim that what he was doing wasn’t unhealthy.
Dick and Bruce would call it an obsession. As if it was that simple! No, this was so, so much more than an obsession. It was unhealthy. And yet… Jason couldn’t find it in himself to stop.
He took a sip of his shitty coffee- why did you even like that coffee shop, there was a better shop just a block down the street- and followed behind you. He’d been ~~stalking~~ following you for almost two months now, and it was… concerning, at the least, that you hadn’t noticed yet. You were completely unaware.
He’d been accidentally caught a few times, when he hadn’t expected you to turn or stop, when you deviated from your normal routine. But you never, not even once, suspected a thing.
He was in love with you.
He knew your mother’s name, your father’s name, the first pet you ever had. Your favorite diner when you got paid each week. You did laundry on Sunday’s, you separated your whites from everything else to make a separate load. And he knew your car needed new tires, they’d been popped by nails hidden just behind your tires. He’d put the nails there. He had hundreds, maybe thousands of Polaroid pictures of you, each with the date it was taken on printed with red ink on the back. Jesus, he even had a walkie talkie in your room so he could listen to you sleep!
Christ, this was an unhealthy obsession. And yet he couldn’t bring himself to stop. He was in love, and you loved him too. You just didn’t know it yet.
