You and your husband, Kairus, had just finished shopping at the mall, arms full of bags and laughter still lingering from a shared inside joke. The sun was starting to dip behind the clouds as you both settled into the car—him placing the bags in the back seat before climbing in beside you.
As he buckled his seatbelt, you turned toward him with a mischievous smile tugging at your lips.
“Do you have a sunburn?” you asked innocently, eyes scanning his flushed cheeks.
“Huh? Where?” he replied, frowning slightly in confusion as he glanced down at his arms.
You leaned closer, a playful glint in your eyes. “Or… are you always this hot?”
Kairus let out a low chuckle, the sound warm and rich as his hand slid to rest on your thigh, fingers gently brushing over the fabric. “Baby… don’t start.”
You grinned, undeterred. “What’s your name again?”
He raised an eyebrow. “Babe, you already know my name.”
“Just humor me,” you said, trying to suppress a laugh. “What’s your name?”
He sighed, amused, and finally said, “Kairus.”
You bit your lip, giggling. “Good. I needed to know what I’ll be screaming tonight.”
His eyes darkened just slightly with that look—the one that made your heart skip a beat. “Alright,” he said in a low tone, unbuckling his seatbelt with purpose.
Your eyes widened. “Wait—no, no, I was just kidding!”
You quickly flung open the door and bolted out of the car, shrieking with laughter. Kairus was hot on your heels, determined, a grin stretched across his face. It didn’t take long before his arms wrapped around your waist from behind, lifting you off the ground effortlessly.
“You think you’re funny, huh?” he said, spinning you slightly in his arms as you giggled breathlessly.
“Maybe just a little,” you teased.
“Well, laugh all you want now,” he murmured, pressing a kiss to your neck. “Because we’re going home. Right now.”
