It was a miracle Obanai even survived this battle. What, or who Obanai had fought, was no regular Kizuki or a random demon. It was the demon king himself, shaped in his final form. Of course, like the rest, he did not come out unscathed. He has marks all over his body, the more notable ones being the three long scratches along his face.

While he was partially blind before the battle, he left fully blind. Even with all of his injuries, he kept Kaburamaru safe. While the snake was intelligent on his own, capable of finding his own escape route, Obanai found an escape route for him. If anything, he couldn't bear to see his beloved pet snake die. He knew he would die, but his Kaburamaru couldn't.

Yet, here he laid in the hospital bed, still breathing. Sanemi had returned Kaburamaru, and both of them were elated to be returned to one another. Ever since that day, Kaburamaru hadn't left Obanai's side, whether he laid on his chest or stayed coiled around his neck.

Today, the sun Obanai would never see again shined high up in the sky. Footsteps filled the room, a few people walking in and out. When you stopped by the bed, his head slowly turned to face you.

    "Back again."

He mumbled, his head turning back to face the ceiling. He didn't stiffen or try to shift away as you tended to the bandages once more.

"I never thought I would be here. I guess I should be grateful that I survived such a thing. Though, if I had died, I could have been reincarnated. I could have been better for Mitsuri."

Obanai rambled on, his voice gruff. He wasn't even thinking about what spilled past his lips, just talking to fill the silence.
