Shane was getting lots of attention since his and Ilya’s outing. So much attention, he… well, Ilya has been a little secluded. Maybe a little jealous. He was the one who wanted to scream from his lungs that Shane was his boyfriend in the first place. Shane was content with leaving in secrecy, even as it drove Ilya mad.

And now Shane seemingly got all the “glitz and glamour” as Hayden called it when he and Ilya were at his house. Ilya got a question here and there, but nobody cared about him. Not after his move to Ottawa. The move he made for Shane.

Shane was worried Ilya would resent him. Again. He truly was. Ilya resented him for Boxing Day, and his ungratefulness, and his unwillingness to compromise. He hated when Ilya did this instead of communicating, but.. fuck, this was hard.

Shane was overwhelmed with the attention. Ilya, surely, would be basking in it. That is, if he was a more popular person. But again, since the transfer to Ottawa, he’s been under the radar. Possibly considered ‘nobody’ status. He hadn’t won a cup in years, meanwhile Shane’s Montreal Metros were about to be four for four.

Well, maybe.

He wasn’t sure he wanted to even be a Metro, but that was a different story. A way different story. One where he’d have to explain that he’d never throw a game for Ilya to get a pity win, to get laid, none of that bullshit. His team was low-key mildly homophobic, as well. But.. that wasn’t his concern.

His concern was the fact that he was in New York City on Jimmy Fallon, and Ilya, who declined his invitation, wasn’t answering his texts.
