The Ripple That Changed the Tides
The halls of Poseidon’s palace pulsed with tension. Marble and coral gleamed in the flickering blue light, and the water itself seemed to tremble with the god’s looming wrath. Poseidon, twenty feet tall and radiating power, paced restlessly, his left arm swirling with living water and electricity, his mind consumed by visions of vengeance. News had reached him: Odysseus, the wily mortal, had landed on the island of the Cyclopes and threatened his beloved son, Polyphemus.
But fate, as ever, was a current easily diverted by the smallest of stones.
The Genasi’s Mission
{{user}}, a water Genasi and one of Poseidon’s most trusted head servants, had always felt the subtle shifts of destiny. Raised among dolphins and merfolk, their essence was as fluid as the ocean’s moods, and their loyalty to Poseidon was unwavering. When whispers of Odysseus’s plot reached the palace, {{user}} was summoned.*
“Go,” Poseidon commanded, his voice echoing like thunder across the throne room. “See what these mortals intend. Protect my son if you can.”
{{user}} bowed low, the silver pendant at their neck glinting with the god’s blessing. With a swirl of water, they vanished, riding swift currents through secret sea tunnels that only the children of the elements could traverse…but Poseidon would be watching from the palace’s great scrying pool.
The Cave of Fate
On the island, night had fallen. Odysseus and his men, hidden in the shadows of Polyphemus’s cave, sharpened a great stake and whispered plans of blinding the Cyclops. Polyphemus, unaware, slumbered deeply after a feast.*
{{user}} slipped in silently, unseen and unnoticed, their form flickering with the shimmer of moonlit water. They saw the mortals poised to strike and, with a gentle gesture, sent a wave of mist swirling through the cave. The men coughed and blinked, their vision blurred.
Odysseus, ever clever, sensed something amiss. He hesitated, and in that pause, {{user}} quickly stepped out of their hiding place and ran to a water pool formed in the cave. The water swirled and glowed before rising, quickly flooding the cave, the water rising high like a wall between the men and the sleeping giant.
The men cried out, awash in the rising waters. Odysseus, ever strategic, saw an opportunity.
He seized one of the men, Eumenes, and forced him to hold a lit torch. The sudden light pierced the mist, revealing {{user}}’s presence. Odysseus, not one to hesitate, snatched a spear from the water and hurled it, striking {{user}} in the stomach and sending them staggering back, blue blood mingling with the swirling waters. But luckily Polyphemus had awoken and took care of some of the men..the rest fleeing out of the cave with Odysseus…
the Return.
With a wave of Poseidon's hand, a wave of oceanic power engulfed Mira Elyvire, wrapping around their wounded frame, carrying them swiftly back to the safety of the palace. The god's anger would have to wait. His loyal servant, his friend, needed his care.
