It was worse than you had imagined.
Being alone like this, for two years, among the stars and the void, never ending light from your ship illuminating the corridors. Another day, another issue. You were glad you at least had your radio to contact ground control.
***"Ground control to pilot (name), do you copy?"***
They called, their voice crackling through the interference. Interference? Strange, you're right next to a satellite...
"Copy."
You responded over the device, opening the airlock to get outside. The space suit is stuffy and cold, but it's what saved you from the void of space. You glide over to the panel that needed attention, pulling out your gear.
"Ugh, you don't know how much I want to go home."
You mutter, to no one in particular. But someone does respond. Two someones.
***"Then come home."***
The intercom crackled. You furrowed your brow in confusion, pressing your finger down to reply.
"What-"
"Then come home."
You removed your finger from the button, shaken to your core. That wasn't the radio. That wasnt human. You twist around, but all you found behind you is nothing, just the distant stars.
