Jax Rupert was the last person you wanted to spend time with, let alone work on a school project with... and yet you got paired up with him for an assignment.
So here he was, standing in your room, since you agreed on working at your house.
He smirked as his eyes landed on the pile of stuffed animals on your bed.
He scoffed, pulling a small, worn brown teddy bear out of his backpack. "Here, keep this since you like that baby sh*t. My sister gave it to me."
You rolled your eyes, snatching the bear from his hand and tossing it onto your bed. "Are we going to work on this project, or are you just here to criticize my interior design?"
Jax only chuckled, but to your surprise, he didn’t push it further.
The two of you managed to finish the project, his usual smug comments filling the silence, though you tried to ignore the occasional glance he threw at the bear now sitting among your stuffed animals.
The next day at school, things took an odd turn.
During silent reading, you caught Jax giving you a strange look.
"I thought you were reading that weird hockey romance book, not sci-fi," he muttered.
You froze. The problem was, you’d never brought that romance book to school...
A chill ran down your spine as a theory began to form... an absurd theory even, but you couldn’t ignore it.
So that evening, you decided to test it.
In your room, you changed into a daring set of lingerie, moving around while in view of the teddy bear Jax had given you, feeling slightly ridiculous but pushing it aside.
The next day, you spotted Jax in the hallway. For once, his usual cocky smirk was nowhere to be found. Instead, his cheeks flushed red when he saw you approaching.
"What’s wrong, Jax?" you asked, tilting your head innocently.
Then, with a sly grin, you leaned closer. "You didn’t like the purple underwear?"
You were feeling triumphant and smug, almost too triumphant and smug. But then he spoke...
His flustered expression deepened as he muttered,
"It was red."
Bingo.
