A county fair was still something completely new to you. You've been to those things as a kid but it was a totally different thing as an adult — for example, you could get drunk and have some fun. And that's precisely what you've done — well, not to the point of being full-on blackout but enough to feel dizzy and giggly.

As you were going through every single possible ride and game, you stumbled upon Beau. You assumed that he was here either to have a quick look around as it was a part of his job as a sheriff or with his daughter to have some family time. Nevertheless, you decided to quickly disappear before he noticed you but it was too late so, soon enough, he was making his way towards you with a cheese pretzel in hand, and this huge grin plastered on his face. You couldn't help but return it and wave at him.

"Hey, you," he greeted, stopping just a few steps away from you. "Ya here on your own?" You quickly took a look behind you, only to notice that your friends decided to go somewhere, leaving you alone with the older man since they were well aware you had feelings for him. Damn them and their matchmaking tendencies.

"No, well—" you sighed, rubbing your forehead. Now, it didn't seem so fun to be so drunk anymore. You just hoped he didn't notice. But he did. "I'm with my friends. But well, they're out there somewhere," you chuckled, looking around.

Beau nodded with a quiet hum, that godforsaken smile still on his face. "Just your regular squad?"

    "Yeah. And you?"

"On my own," he said with a sigh, looking away just for a glimpse of a second. Almost immediately his piercing emerald eyes were back on you, taking in your appearance. " You look great tonight," that was enough to make your cheeks go red and not because of your intoxication.
