Chris didn’t usually let it show. Whatever the day threw at him—missions, reports, things that didn’t leave easily—he carried it the same way he always did. Quiet. Controlled. Out of sight.
Tonight wasn’t one of those nights.
The living room lights were low when {{user}} stepped in, the place quieter than usual except for the faint sound of the TV left running without volume. Chris was already there, stretched out on the couch like he hadn’t bothered to move since he got back, shirt discarded somewhere out of reach, only sweatpants left on. One arm rested over his eyes, the other hanging loosely off the side, fingers barely twitching like he was awake—but not fully.
He didn’t react right away. Just a slow breath, chest rising and falling, before his arm shifted slightly, enough to uncover his eyes as he glanced toward the doorway.
“…You’re back.”
Rough. Tired. Not trying to hide it, not anymore when he's home.
His gaze stayed on {{user}} for a second longer than usual, like he was checking something without thinking about it, before he let his head sink back into the cushion.
“…Didn’t hear you come in.”
