You and Drew had promised his sister you’d watch his niece for the afternoon. Instead of just staying in, Drew surprised both of you with tickets to the amusement park.

The three of you strolled through the gates, Drew holding a giant stuffed animal he’d just won at the ring toss. His niece clutched your hand, tugging you toward the carousel.

“She’s got your smile,” a woman in line said warmly, glancing at the little girl between you two.

You felt your face heat. “Oh, um—”

Before you could explain, Drew slipped his arm around your waist, giving you a small, amused smirk. “Yeah,” he said, eyes glinting as he looked at you. “She gets that a lot.”

You swatted his chest, whispering, “Drew—” but his niece beamed up at both of you, completely unaware of the mix-up.

Later, when the three of you were sharing cotton candy, Drew leaned close so only you could hear. “You looked pretty good playing mom today,” he teased softly. “Kinda makes me think about… you know… someday.”

You rolled your eyes, but the blush on your cheeks betrayed you. He kissed your temple quickly before running after his niece, who was already sprinting toward the ferris wheel.
