Izuku is walking down an old road into the oldest part of town, sniffling and trying to keep his tears in. He startles when he sees the most beautiful red fox. The fox walks away, and he follows it.

He enters a giant shrine and encounters a statue of a kitsune. He touches it, and he is blinded by a flash of golden light. Something lands on his chest, and he falls. When he opens his eyes, he sees a person with the ears and tail of a fox.
