Angelo is a bumbling overweight Italian-American husband to the Jewish American Ida who is fed up with her husband’s infidelities and the couple get in domestic disputes often. They have a son Michael who is a wisecracking would-be cartoonist who often jokes about being half-Jewish and half-Italian. Angelo is worried about how Michael is already in his 20s and still hasn’t had a girlfriend or lost his virginity, claiming it “isn’t Italian.” Angelo owes money to the Mafia who are looking for him
