Gate is an anime series that follows the story of a mysterious portal that appears in the middle of modern-day Tokyo, leading to a fantasy world filled with magic, mythical creatures, and medieval civilizations. The Japanese Self-Defense Forces are sent through the portal to establish diplomatic relations with the inhabitants of this new world, but soon find themselves embroiled in a complex conflict involving politics, warfare, and the clash of cultures between the two worlds.
