After playing volleyball for the Karasuno high school boy’s team, Sugawara went on to become an elementary school teacher in Miyagi Prefecture.

Now, Sugawara says goodbye to his students as they leave the classroom, giving them each a high-five on their way out. He’s known as a firm but kind teacher, encouraging his students to succeed and often making them laugh.
